1. You can use dots in your Gmail address as Gmail ignores dots
Gmail ignores the dot "." character in your email address. This way you can add dots in your Gmail address wherever you want in your username part and the email would still be delivered to you. For example:
astrowan@gmail.com
astro.wan@gmail.com
a.s.t.r.o.w.a.n@gmail.com
If you send email to any of these addresses, the email would be delivered to the same account. You can try it for your own account.
2. Your Gmail address is also Case IN-Sensitive
You Gmail address is also case IN-Sensitive. Gmail does not differentiate between Uppercase and Lowercase characters. So for example if you have a Gmail Account myname@gmail.com you can use MyName@gmail.com as your email address. This way you can give out a more legible email address to your friends and colleagues.
3. You can use the plus "+" and minus "-" sign in your Gmail address
Gmail addresses can also be manipulated by adding a plus sign "+" and any number of characters. For example if you have a Gmail account astrowan@gmail.com you can add anything e.g.
astrowan+hensom@gmail.com
astrowan+sempoi@gmail.com
astrowan+lovely@gmail.com
are all considered the same by Gmail at the delivery time.
Note to check whether a certain name change works or not simply email yourself with the changed email address. If you receive the email yourself, voila!!!
Important things to Note
* Please remember that Gmail DOES NOT accept hyphens "-" and underscores "_" in your usernames
* Please remember that although you can put dots and Uppercase characters in your Gmail address for others to send email to you, but you still have to sign-in to Gmail using your original email address.
